Guns N 'Roses (sometimes abbreviated as GN'R) is an American rock band. The band formed in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band, led by singer and co-founder Axl Rose, has gone through various line-up changes and controversy since its formation; lineup currently consists of vocalist Rose, guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" thal, DJ Ashba and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson drummer Frank Ferrer and keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman. The band released six studio albums, three EPs and one live album during his career.The band has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, including more than 46 million in the United States.The band's 1987 major label debut album Appetite for Destruction has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide and reached number one in the United States Billboard 200. In addition, the album charted three Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Sweet Child O 'Mine" which reached number one.The 1991 album Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted on the two highest spots on the Billboard 200 and has sold 14 million copies combined in the United States alone and 35 million worldwide. Formation (1985-1987)See also: Hollywood Rose and L. A. GunsThis group was formed in early 1985 by Hollywood Rose members Axl Rose (vocals) and Izzy Stradlin (guitar), and LA Guns members Tracii Guns (lead guitar), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums). The band created the name by combining two of the members of the group name. Shortly thereafter, bassist Ole Beich fired, and replaced by Duff McKagan.Setelah a while Tracii Guns Tracii was replaced by Slash because it does not show up for practice. Slash has played with McKagan in the Road Crew and Stradlin during a short duty in Hollywood Rose. The new line-up came together quickly, but after deciding to do the "tour" from Sacramento, California to Duff's home town of Seattle, drummer Rob Gardner quit and was replaced by Slash's close friend Steven Adler.The band, which continues called Guns N 'Roses even after the departure of Tracii Guns, established stable first row above the so-called "Hell Tour". The album experienced a change after an original work of art that Robert Williams cover design (a surrealist scene in which a dagger-toothed monster attack vengefully robot rapist) spawned an album. It was a successful re-release, as the single reached # 7 in the United States supported the British re-release with an acoustic version of "You're Crazy", recorded much earlier than that shown on the GN 'R Lies EP.At the time of "Paradise City" and its video reached the airwaves and peaked at # 5 in the U.S., the band touring success and fame has thrown up the album # 1 on the Billboard charts. "Welcome to the Jungle", "Sweet Child O 'Mine" and "Paradise City" were all top ten singles in the U.S. To date, Appetite for Destruction has sold more than 28 million copies worldwide.It been certified as Platinum in USGuns N 18X 'Roses began opening shows for big acts, but as their fame began to take over, a world tour in support of Appetite for Destruction was scheduled. Travel bands throughout the United States, and in spring 1988 were invited to the famous Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England, where they shared the bill with groups like KISS and Iron Maiden. The band has played gigs together with all the black metal band Body Count, Ice T and the singer wrote in his book, The Ice Opinion, that Axl had been "a victim of the press in the same way I am."Even after the release of GN'R Lies, Appetite for Destruction continued to be popular for the remainder of 1988 and 1989, which resulted in them winning both Favorite Heavy Metal Artist and Favorite Heavy Metal Album (Appetite for Destruction) on national television in 1990 American Music Awards, where Slash and McKagan appeared intoxicated and used profanities visible in the air. Members finally took steps to deal with their addictions after Rose threatened to end the band if they continued with their heavy drug abuse. He even spoke publicly about the situation, particularly heroin addiction, while opening for The Rolling Stones at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1989 by stating that if certain members of the band do not stop "dancing with Mr. Brownstone", Guns N 'Roses completed - particularly referring to Slash and Adler.
